Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Day 3: Bwindi to Kigali, Rwanda - City Tour
After a leisurely breakfast, depart Bwindi for the journey to Kigali, Rwanda's capital city, crossing the border at Cyanika or Katuna border post. The drive takes approximately four to five hours through scenic landscapes as you leave Uganda's southwestern highlands and enter Rwanda, immediately noticing the difference in infrastructure with well-paved roads, organized traffic, and the famous cleanliness Rwanda is known for throughout Africa. Arrive in Kigali around midday, check into your hotel, and enjoy lunch.
Embark on a comprehensive Kigali city tour that reveals both Rwanda's tragic past and its remarkable present. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a deeply moving tribute to the victims of the 1994 genocide where over 250,000 people are buried and where exhibits tell the story of Rwanda's darkest chapter and the nation's inspiring journey toward reconciliation, forgiveness, and unity. Day 4: Kigali to Akagera National Park - Afternoon Game Drive

Day 6: Akagera to Lake Kivu & Departure
After breakfast and a final morning in Akagera with possible early game drive if time permits, depart the park and begin the journey west toward Lake Kivu, one of Africa's Great Lakes and Rwanda's premier beach destination. The drive takes approximately five to six hours through Rwanda's scenic interior. Arrive at Lake Kivu's shores around midday and enjoy lunch at a lakeside restaurant.
Lake Kivu is a stunning freshwater lake sitting at 1,460 meters altitude with crystal-clear water, sandy beaches, and a dramatic backdrop of volcanic mountains. The lake is perfectly safe for swimming—a rarity in Africa—with no hippos, crocodiles, or bilharzia parasites, making it an ideal spot for relaxation after your safari adventures. Spend the afternoon enjoying the beach, swimming in the refreshing water, or taking a boat trip to explore some of Lake Kivu's islands including Napoleon Island. The lakeside town of Gisenyi has a distinctly relaxed atmosphere with palm trees lining the beach, colorful fishing boats pulled up on sand, and locals playing volleyball on the shore.
