Day 1: Arrival & Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – Transfer to Murchison Falls
Your safari begins with a morning pick-up and drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where you can track rhinos on foot. Accompanied by rangers, you will enjoy a guided rhino tracking experience in their natural habitat. After the activity, stop for lunch and rest before continuing the journey. Later, drive to Murchison Falls National Park through scenic countryside. On arrival, check in to your mid-range lodge. Spend the evening resting and enjoying the peaceful wilderness atmosphere.
Day 2: Murchison Falls – Morning Game Drive & Top of the Falls
After breakfast, head out for an early morning game drive across Murchison’s vast savannah plains. You may encounter elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, Uganda kobs, and warthogs roaming freely. The drive offers excellent wildlife photography opportunities in the golden morning light. Later, visit the Top of the Falls to witness the Nile River forcing its way through a narrow gorge. The thunderous falls and viewpoints create unforgettable scenery. Return to the lodge in the afternoon for rest and relaxation.
Day 3: Murchison Falls – Nile Boat Cruise & Leisure Time
Begin the day with a slow and scenic boat cruise along the Nile River towards the base of Murchison Falls. Along the riverbanks, expect to see large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and buffaloes. The cruise also provides excellent birdwatching opportunities including fish eagles, herons, and kingfishers. The calm waters allow close wildlife viewing and photography. After the cruise, return to the lodge for lunch. Spend the afternoon resting and enjoying lodge facilities.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, depart Murchison Falls and drive southwest towards Kibale Forest National Park. The journey passes through scenic landscapes, tea plantations, and local villages. You may spot roadside wildlife and enjoy Uganda’s changing vegetation zones. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge located near the forest. Kibale is famous for its rich primate diversity and lush rainforest. Spend the evening resting as forest sounds surround the lodge.
Day 5: Kibale Forest – Chimpanzee Tracking & Bigodi Wetland
Today starts with a guided chimpanzee tracking experience in Kibale Forest, home to the highest number of primates in Africa. During the trek, you may see red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus, L’Hoest monkeys, and many bird species. The forest walk offers an immersive rainforest experience led by expert guides. In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a relaxed community nature walk. The wetland is rich in birds, butterflies, and small mammals. Return to the lodge later for rest and leisure.
Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, travel through the scenic highlands of western Uganda towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive offers breathtaking views of rolling hills, valleys, and rural communities. Bwindi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its dense rainforest and endangered mountain gorillas. On arrival, check in to your mid-range lodge near the forest. Enjoy lunch and take time to relax after the long journey. Spend the evening resting and preparing for the next day’s trek.
Day 7: Bwindi – Gorilla Trekking & Full Relaxation
This day is dedicated to the unforgettable mountain gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi Forest. Accompanied by experienced rangers, you will hike through thick vegetation to locate a habituated gorilla family. Once found, you will spend time observing the gorillas as they feed, play, and interact naturally. The encounter is emotional, educational, and deeply rewarding. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and recovery. The remainder of the day is reserved for complete rest and relaxation.
Day 8: Transfer from Bwindi to Entebbe
After breakfast, begin the long but scenic drive back to Entebbe International Airport. Pass through beautiful highlands, small towns, and Uganda’s lush countryside. Stop for lunch and short breaks along the way to stretch and take photos. Enjoy the changing landscapes and cultural scenery as you approach the capital region. Upon arrival in Entebbe, check in to a hotel if needed or proceed directly to the airport. This marks the end of your 8-day Uganda safari adventure, leaving memories to last a lifetime.
